Outdoor Education Jobs

When you join the High Trails Outdoor Education Center team as a Field instructor or a Registered Nurse you will play an essential role in the education of hundreds of students each season. Outdoor Education complements the curriculum of the classroom to solidify concepts through hands-on experience.

“Every child needs nature. Not just the ones whose parents appreciate nature. Not only those of a certain economic class or culture or set of abilities. Every child.”

Richard Louv

Staff members at High Trails live and work on the 6000-acre property of the Colorado Outdoor Education Center in Florissant, CO. Outdoor Education instructors teach about local geology, orchestrate the setup and cleanup of meals, and much more. Staff members spend a majority of time outside and lead programs and classes starting before breakfast and ending after evening activities. We look for hardworking applicants with college degrees and positive references from former employers, teachers, and associates.

Staff members receive a stipend, housing, meals and laundry service. Pets are not allowed for seasonal employees. High Trails hires instructors for the spring (late March to mid May) and fall seasons (late August - mid November).
