Maintenance Staff

Our maintenance staff are essential to our operation. Maintenance team members uphold our mission by maintaining and improving our facilities and land, providing a safe, efficient infrastructure for our residential communities. Maintenance team members are recruited and rewarded for their initiative, flexibility, work ethic, and relevant skillsets.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, component replacement and repair tasks, including: carpentry (renovations, building decks), painting, mechanical, and basic non-licensed electrical and plumbing work
  • Maintain specialized kitchen equipment (commercial dishwashers/stoves, etc)
  • Install appliances and other equipment
  • Assist in maintaining roads/shoveling snow
  • Collaborate with external professionals during renovations and facility expansions
  • Perform specialized seasonal work (pool maintenance, snow removal, etc.)
  • Assist with fire mitigation: cut, load, and haul trees, slash, and debris
  • Operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identify and report mechanical problems requiring additional repair
  • Inspect and maintain assigned equipment and small tools for proper operating condition; complete minor repairs on equipment as needed
  • Support a collaborative, positive, work environment.
  • Operate machinery as required, including road graders, backhoe, dump truck, and Bobcat.

Other Duties

  • Help run client/camp programming when applicable, i.e. sawmill demonstrations, wood shop
  • Lead applicable staff training for summer programming (bike maintenance, vehicle trainings, work project coordination)
  • Assist with emergency situations pertaining to maintenance (or otherwise)
  • Work flexible hours when needed

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications, education, and experience

  • Relevant related experience in the industry
  • Experience working with power tools and knowledge of their safe operation
  • Excellent work habits including: punctuality, efficient use of time, prioritizing tasks
  • Must pass background check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work both independently and with others
  • Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Carpentry Skills (framing, sheet rock, painting, decking, windows, roofing, siding)
  • Applicants must be comfortable working a wide range of equipment and tools
  • Ability to work with cleaning equipment, including chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust

Physical Requirements of the Position

  • Move up to 50lbs of project material repeatedly and or tools to potentially remote building locations
  • Erect and work on scaffolding, ladders and platforms
  • Perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but is not limited to the following activities: reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and or confining spaces (underground, overhead, or at ground level), twisting of the waist shoulders and legs, lying on stomach and/or back.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary starting at $15-$24/hr. (DOE, Trade & Certifications)

    0-12 months: 40 hours
