Bakery Assistant Job Description

Our bakery assistants are crucial to helping create the overall experience for our campers and staff. Sanborn is a fun, fast paced, energetic place to work. The camp bakers are responsible for dessert prep, providing for meals that meet a wide variety of dietary needs, cleaning and sanitation practices, assisting with inventory, kitchen organization, and working with camp counseling staff.

What Are We Looking For?

Minimum qualifications, education, and experience.

  • Ability to work with little supervision while maintaining a high level of performance
  • Excellent working knowledge of kitchen appliances, their operations, and cooking methods
  • Previous bakery experience helpful
  • Willingness to learn is essential — training is provided
  • Knowledge of ServSafe requirements
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Adherence to the Teller County Public Health food service guidelines
  • All COEC Employees must pass a background check

You will be expected to:

  • Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between your kitchen coworkers and the extended camp community
  • Assist with preparation and packing of snacks, desserts, and cookouts when scheduled

Job Benefits

-Competitive salary starting at $15.00/hour (If seasonal housing is provided, starting salary is between $11.60 and $12.50/hr)
-Salary starting at $15.00 - $16.50/hour
-1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

-Meals on site during shift (when kitchens are open and in season)

Bakery Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Prep, bake, and serve energy filled, delicious, and attractive treats for campers and staff
  • Ensure that allergy and dietary restrictions are met for each meal. This often requires preparation of several baked goods for each meal to accommodate dietary needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the bakery
  • Comply with proper sanitation and safety procedures
  • Assist with preparation of meals and dishwashing when needed
  • Assist in stocking food orders
